Always bring with you an official photo identification such as Driver License, State ID or Passport.

Complete all information required on the document except your signature, you will do that in front of the Notary.

Confirm if the document required witnesses, if so, make sure to bring your witnesses or communicate that to the Notary to make sure witnesses are available at the time of the notarization.

Bring the document or set of documents complete, the notary needs to see the full document, not only the signature page.
